If you wish to gain an EFT Certification and use it professionally, you can gain an “EFTi-accredited certified EFT Practitioner” qualification by attending an EFTi Level 1 and Level 2 workshop, pay a £50 enrolment fee, and complete other requirements as described below such as case studies. See details of the Professional body EFT International whose qualification you will receive.
It is also important your trainer feels happy with your skill and confidence in facilitating EFT sessions and this assessment is normally done informally whilst attending the Level 2 and during mentoring sessions (which are part of the requirements).
If you wish to become an EFT practitioner, your trainer needs to be notified of your intention in advance of the Level 2 workshop so you can be supported to ensure your skills are developed appropriately. Perfection isn’t required, however a degree of confidence and understanding is needed.
Working with people with their personal problems needs a high degree of respect, sensitivity, safety, empathy and developed listening skills. If your trainer feels it appropriate you may be asked to spend some weeks practising and return to a future course for re-assessment.
You may also be asked to undergo a few weeks or months of EFT sessions from a practitioner to work with issues that could get in the way of holding the space appropriately as a practitioner.
The following is taken from the EFT International Code of Ethics which prospective practitioners should understand:
3. Certification of Trainees
A trainer’s first responsibility is to the safety of the members of the public who will consult their trainees. They should not certify anyone whom they feel is not safe to work with clients, whatever standards they have otherwise achieved as trainees
Trainers are not obliged to refund fees to students they are unable to certify. Trainees are paying for training and/or certification process, not for an outcome.
The following gives other important information regarding becoming an EFT practitioner.
- There is a non-refundable cost of £50 registration fee for would-be practitioners which is payable before the start of the Level 2 training. We monitor practitioners-to-be more closely so we can guide you to be highly successful practitioners. The payment also covers the cost of administering the practitioner route process, and providing access to a support service where you receive 6 months support for those who have questions and challenges during the process. Support is provided as follows - moving to the next level if needed: 1) Our closed Facebook support group, 2) Direct email support, 3) Scheduling a phone / skype call in more complex situations.
- There are four case studies that are required as follows. There is a review fee for each of these which is £120 for the first one (recorded case study), and £40 for each of the 3 written case studies. This comes to a total of £240. Note that case study review will be carried out by either us or another EFTi trainer who we work with. In the latter case, the payment is made directly to the other trainer. We liaise with them to be sure your case studies are reviewed fairly and in keeping with the EFT-related training syllabus we offer:
- One of the Client Case Studies must be a live demonstration and discussion of a full EFT session. This can be accomplished by live, in-person demonstration (may be online) and follow-up conversation with your trainer. A write-up of the live session may be required at the Trainer’s discretion.
- Two of the Client Case Studies must be written accounts from multiple sessions (2 minimum, 4 maximum) each with a single client.
- One remaining case study is a Personal Case Study – a written account of a personal EFT exploration that demonstrates a thorough examination of a personal issue, and includes how Core Issues were uncovered and handled (60 minutes minimum, with multiple sessions encouraged).
- You will need to have received 4 EFT sessions from a certified practitioner. This can be retrospective (i.e. if you have already had 4 sessions in the past then this counts). This gives experience of what it is to be like to receive a session from an experienced professional as well as give a chance to clear any issues arising during the practitioner certification process. It is recommended to experience at least two different practitioners as each has their own style of facilitation.
- You will need to have completed 6 hours mentoring after the Level 2 training.
- You will need to pass a multiple choice EFTi online exam.
- Before you receive your final EFT Certificate, you will need to have completed a total of 50 practice sessions (you can include your case study sessions) across a minimum of 20 individuals. This is important as everyone is unique and responds differently to the EFT process and this experience is vital to develop confidence in EFT in the role of practitioner. Each session should be a minimum of 45 minutes.
- Once having EFT Practitioner accreditation you can gain practitioner membership of the EFTi and have a practitioner listing. You will also need to attain CPD units each year (Continuing Professional Development) to remain a member and have 6 hours supervision.
